Child custody matters during a Pennsylvania divorce

On Behalf of | Nov 7, 2014 | Firm News

Child custody agreements must first be reviewed by a Pennsylvania family court before it can be approved. During this review, courts will analyze several important factors, the most important of which being the best interest of the child. It is, therefore, vital to know what courts base their decisions on before going into any kind of child custody proceeding.

First and foremost, courts want to see that a child will have stability of house and home — mostly with regard to the child’s family, community and education. Courts will also look at which parent is most likely to support the child having regular and frequent contact with the other parent. They will also look at how available each parent is for the child and how close the parents’ residences are to each other.
